Youth of the Year
Karrin
Smith is the Black Canyon Boys & Girls club Youth of the year for
2007. Karrin along with 3 other members for the title of Sr. youth of the
year. All members competing had to design a visual aid that expressed what
club meant to them as well as do an interview with some of the clubs board
members. After being selected as the finalist for Olathe, Karrin had to
give a speech along with the finalist for Montrose Jordan Largent at our annual
Youth of the Year award ceremony. An overall Youth of the Year winner was
selected by a panel of judges based on these speeches.
As our 2007 Youth of the Year Karrin got to
compete at the state level as one of nine finalist across Colorado. She
was able to attend a session at the State Capital, and attended a lunch with
many of Colorado's legislators. Adam's State College offered a minimum of
a $500 college scholarship to the nine finalist if they wished to attend Adam's
State College.

Pati
Ramirez was selected as the Olathe Youth of the Month for the month of
March. Pati is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She is
always willing to help out. She also is one of if not the most frequent attendees
of the Power Hour program. She tries very hard to succeed in school and
challenges her self to overcome her language barriers.
